Traditional Turkish Dumplings( Manti)
Description
Manti” is a very authentic and delicious dish in Turkish cuisine. It is not easy to make “ manti” but definitely worth the effort.

Preparation

Mix flour,egg,1/2 teaspoon salt and water in a deep bowl with your hands until a firm dough is formed
Rest the dough under a damp kitchen towel for 1 hour
You can prepare the filling while waiting. Mix ground meat,chopped onion,salt and pepper in another bowl. Set aside
Cut the dough into four pieces. Roll the dough out as thin as you can with a rolling pin(around 1/16 inches is ideal)
Cut the thin dough into small squares with a sharp knife
Put a little filling on each square and close them up from the edges
Heat 8 cups of water in a big pot and add the dumplings when it boils. Cook for about 15 min until softened
Transfer them into serving plates with a slotted spoon
Mix yogurt and garlic in a small bowl
Melt the butter in a pan,add dry mint and crushed red pepper on top
Put yogurt sauce on top of the dumplings,drizzle butter sauce and serve
